During TEFAF 2016, Guus Roell will also host an exposition featuring the paintings of Piet Zanstra.
This recently deceased master of classic modernism shows full mastery of his style in impressive portraits and tasteful representation of the female form. Zanstra is also known for his architectural works, which have a decisive influence on his painting.
Guus Röell is an expert in the field of colonial antiques and rare artefacts from the West Indies to Japan, including furniture, paintings, prints, sculptures, silver, gold, textiles and ethnographical items from far away shores. His specialisation is the colourful history of European overseas exploration during the Age of Discovery from the 16th to the 19th century, by Portugal, Spain, England and in particular by the Dutch East and West Indies Companies, the VOC and WIC. Certainly an art connoisseur, he is a curator with an exquisite taste for unique craftsmanship, historical maps and fine brushwork.
